Tryst'17 promised to be much bigger and better than ever before. And this 4 day long techno-cultural extravaganza surely lived up to it’s expectations. The repetitive patterns that adorned the institute area were symbolic of this year's theme "Decoding the Pattern".
The Director of IIT Delhi, along with the various Deans held the first session of interactions with the student community this Monday. He explained how IITD lacked a mechanism where the students could directly approach the administration regarding their problem, and the lack of communication between the deans and the students.
After the first semester of 2016-17 has begun, we have met the freshmen, already have started missing the graduated batch, and furthermore, we have already seen the course load and started agonising it.

Enactus IITD has once again brought laurels to the college.
To mark the culmination of the tireless efforts put by the different boards in general and clubs in particular, the All Boards Night was organized at the Hockey Ground on Friday. It is a celebration of the events of the gone by academic year and recognition of those who have excelled in their respective fields. The night was graced by the presence of the Director, deans and the presidents of the various boards. Since the majors are round the corner, there was not a very large attendance from the students’ side. Though many joined in as the event progressed, it was by and large a quiet crowd.
The fresher’s awards were the first to be presented. These were the Best Fresher awards of each club of the BRCA and a few among the BSA received the colors for each sport. The awards for best hostel representatives and best hostel in each club followed. Since the director had not joined in, a refreshment break of 20 minutes was announced.
In the wake of increasing needs for research and teaching at Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi, the Lecture Hall Complex, backbone for the smart campus, was formally inaugurated by Union Human Resource Development Minister, Smt. Smriti Zubin Irani on 29th April 2016. The inaugural ceremony commenced with union HRD Minister laying foundation stone of the Research Park, a hub for world class infrastructure for design and development of advanced technologies in the campus.
The open house organized this weekend by IIT Delhi stood apart, but the fashion in which the Department of Applied Mechanics stood out was nothing short of a spectacle. As I walked towards Block IV, the airship stole my attention, and boy was I happy to be reporting for the department.
Open House 2016 was a showcase of a flurry of innovative ideas put forward by the various departments of IIT Delhi. The textile department also came up with a couple of such ideas, one of them being “Bullet and Stab resistant fabrics”. As the name suggests, this fabric could act as a shield for our body and hence, find significant applications in the field of defense.
Once again, it was that time of the year when the gates of IITD would open to the public, exhibiting an extensive collection of innovative research and product development projects which the students along with professors have worked on throughout the year, providing insight into path-breaking research work, student projects and the numerous advanced facilities and laboratories available in IIT Delhi.
