After being delayed twice , one of the most awaited hockey matches happened on tuesday evening, between the fierce jwalamukhi squad and the skilled kumaon team. The petrichor from the afternoon was still strong when the match began. Both teams playing with vigour, however on each fronts whenever jwala crossed the half line, there was maanas.
Dodging all sticks ,he was a formidable wall. Jwala even though having lesser number of inter-iit players, was united like a team. They passed and played well. Intercepted by manu and lalit maybe a bit too frequently after the 10 minute mark, their passes lost accuracy and kumaon went for offence. Again the scenario was ujjwal-centric, the insti-captain snaked his ball around atleast 7 people on this occasion but failed to convert the ball when it was required. First half ended with 0-0 but kumaon had the possesion ratio in their favor. Second half saw and end to that, jwala much more lively now, was constantly shooting. They got a pc on two back-to-back occasion and almost hit a goal, but kumaon performs the best under pressure, another hit towards the kumaon goal and they go for a counter ...lalit scoop to manu, who passes to avinash. He takes a moment too long and the keeper intercepts him. To the tigers' joy, narendra comes on spot and hits frantically at the ball, keeper unable to figure out what was happening gets a surprise to see the ball hitting the goal! The roar goes up. Jai kumaon. 1-0 but the goal leaves a bitter taste for kumaon supporters as manu got badly injured , he retires for now. The match carries on with jwala outperforming their insti-ranking as a team but the defenders of kumaon giving in to no goals, maanas and vikas take in all the attacks. Best player goes to maanas. Match ends 1-0... Kumaon celebrates another victory
