In a tense semi-final between two evenly matched teams it was Zanskar who emerged victorious beating Jwala in straight sets by 26-24, 25-15.
Both the teams started the match with great enthusiasm and the fans enjoyed every moment of the awe inspiring game chanting the names of their hostels after winning a point. Jwala build an early lead of 10-7 when the lights went out suddenly and the game had to be paused for ten minutes.
Zanskar found the break helpful and their players found their rhythm. They came back strongly but Jwala remained tough. The set went on level till both teams finding themselves at 24 each. The next point, arguably the most important point of the game went to Zanskar. Jwalites didn’t seemed happy about the same as they felt that the decision was a poor one from the referee. However, the decision was made and Zanskar grabbed the next point to win the set.
Jwala lost their rhythm in the second set and never looked like the side they were in the first set. On the other hand Zanskar had its confidence high and they won the set easily with a huge margin of 25-15 to fix a spot in the final.
Jwala will now play for the third spot against the losing side of the second semi-final between Kumaon and Nilgiri. And Zanskar will play the final with the winning side and try to claim ten points for their hostel.
