On a chilly winter morning, the inter hostel cricket tournament started with an even match between the houses Karakoram and Zanskar, with Karakoram winning by 11 runs. Karakoram went in for batting first, and with steady scoring, posted a total of 132 runs
for the loss of 6 wickets. A sizeable contribution was made by Rana who played a gutsy innings full of pleasing strokes.
The Zanskar batting line-up was tested by Kara’s bowlers early on and they lost some early wickets before staging a minor comeback. But the frequent loss of wickets ultimately lost them the match, with their total reaching 121 for the loss of 9 wickets. The lead wicket takers for Kara were Karthik and Devilal.
It was a good effort by both teams and the match threatened to go to the wire even until the middle of the second innings. But Karakoram’s confident bowling attack kept the oppositions’ batsmen in check and captured the decisive moments of the match.
