The Startup Showcase Finale organized by Entrepreneurship Development Cell of IIT Delhi was organised on the 8th of March at hotel Maurya Sheraton.
The event gave a sneak - peek into the ideologies of entrepreneurs on the brink of taking over the reigns of the world. An extensive shortlisting criteria ensured that the startup pitch, that had initially received more than 300 responses by it’s registration deadline on 1st of January, gave 12 startups a chance to showcase their ingenuity at the event.
The startups were judged and reviewed by some of the more eminent personalities of the business world. These include Ms Shanti Mohan, CEO & founder of Letsventure, , Mr Gourav Bhattacharya, VP of Matrix Partners, Mr. Pranay Gupta, partner with 91 springboard, and more. A broad basis of the judgement criteria covered points like customer validation and business development. While they hailed all the ideas as superlative, they eventually had to attach a rank to these startups, which, as they claimed, was an incredibly tough task to do. Intugine Technologies emerged at the pole position, followed by RealBox Media as a close second and PocketAd and Routofy as third. The winners were awarded a cash prize worth INR 6 lakhs, first runner-ups INR 3 lakhs, and second runner-ups INR 2 lakhs.
Intugine is a Bengaluru-based startup which specialises in technologies that can sense gestures for PC control. It was founded by Harshit Shrivastava along with Vivek Kumar and Abhishek Sharma, students of IIT Kharagpur, who amazingly quit college in their first year to follow their dreams. With gaming being their first love, they wanted to work in a closely related field. Hot on their heels was RealBox, an app based startup targeted at helping a restaurant customer make proper choices by giving information about the trends of a particular restaurant.
All we can hope for is that at least some, if not all, of these pioneering ideas find support bases in which to sow the seeds of ingenuity, skills and sheer hard work.
