IIT Delhi celebrated 67 years of Indian independence on 15th August 2014.

The celebrations were kicked off with the freedom run which witnessed enthusiastic participation. It was a moment of patriotic pride when our national flag was hoisted by Mr.S.N.Singh in the garden facing Seminar hall.
Mr.S.N.Singh addressed all gathered, discussing the Prime Minister's speech from earlier in the day. Striving towards equality, elimination of discrimination, and health and hygiene were issues he spoke about at length.
Following his speech was a group dance performance by nursery school children on the song “Ye Desh hai Veer Jawano ka” which left the audience in raptures.Performances by students from KV JNU, Professor Naresh Kumar and BRCA IIT D were highlights of the event. Recognition of outstanding work by Indian professors struck the right kind of patriotic note in a technical institution like ours. May it serve as an inspiration for the student community to work towards the betterment of the nation!!!
