aurabh and Tarun brilliantly led the charge as Karakoram chalked up a thumping group stage victory over Zanskar on Wednesday. The thumping 5-0 winnerswill now march on with supreme confidence to the future matches in a few days’ time.
The winning team blasted into a two-goal lead with a double whammy from Saurabh and Tarun midway through the one-sided first half. Tarun cracked a trademark third before half-time and increased his personal tally to two. Only ten minutes into the second half Karakoram increased their lead to four before AnkitPandey gave the final blow.
After the match official whistled play underway, Zanskarenjoyed a brief and energetic early flurry before Karakoram assumed control. Zanskar defendersShubham and company threw out some tackles to deny Tarun, before he and Saurabh came close with converted-chances.
In the second half the pace dropped a little but Karakoram kept up the pressure and always looked dangerous whenever they moved the ball through mid. The major reason for Zanskar’s humiliation was the pack of lacklustre attackers who couldn’t put much venom into their attacks which was clear every time they moved the ball up. They still have plenty to look forward to.
All in all the game was not an entertainer as no resistance was shown while the Zanskar defence was being torn apart by a brilliant Karakoram attack and the audience obviously wants more competitive matches in future.
